I discovered an African store which is close to a place I end up going regularly. If any place has something related to food, it always intrigues me 😉
So I been poking my nose around to learn about new ingredients 🙂
One of the discoveries included a fish called “Black Tilapia”.
So I had to try it out 😀

- 3 spoons of oil
- 1 spoon of turmeric powder
- 1 spoon of Kashmiri chilly powder
- 2 spoons of Bengali Fish masala
- 2 cloves
- Salt to taste
- 1 spoon of cumin seeds
Process:
- Heat 2 spoons of oil
- Add cumin seeds and let them pop
- Add cut ginger, garlic and onions
- Add curry leaves
- Saute until onions are soft
- Add turmeric and chilly powder
- Add salt and Bengali fish masala
- Add cut tomatoes
- Mix and saute until tomatoes are reduced by about 50% of their volume
- Grind the mixture and keep aside
- In another pan heat a spoon of oil
- Fry the fish pieces for 5-10 min
- Add the grinded mix
